VIDEO: Single Leg Glute Bridge Assessment And Progressions

The single leg glute bridge is a good exercise in it’s own rite, but I most commonly use it as an assessment for an aspect of single leg hip stability. The key idea is this: when you’re standing on one leg you want to have great control of your pelvis (to keep it level), your hip rotation, and your overall body posture.

The single leg glute bridge gives us insight into your ability to do these tasks. And the nice thing is you can easily test this out on yourself. Be strict and hold yourself to the highest standards in order to get a true result.

If you don’t have the stability to pass the test, I’ll show how variations of the bridge can also be used as corrective exercise to build adequate strength.
