VIDEO: How to Keep Your Energy Up On Dreary Fall and Winter Days
It's winter and the days are darker, colder and wetter. It's the kind of weather that makes you want to stay inside under a blanket, put on the fireplace channel, and eat a hearty stew.
But, when you stay inactive and indoors, your energy levels, mood and mental focus suffer.
In the moment, you've got two weapons to boost your energy.
First: get outside, particularly when it's light outside. Research tells us that light sends a strong signal to our body to be alert, and there's something about natural light and being outdoors that seems to amplify this effect.
Second: move your body! Physical activity is the number one thing you can do to improve your energy and focus in the short term. Feeling tired? Feel blah? Go on a walk or even a quick run, do some push-ups and squats, or hit the gym quickly.
As humans, we're designed to move and be outside. When you do, I guarantee you'll feel better.
